Our conventional gadgets have not disappeared – our washing machines still continue to wash; but give us options to cold or hot wash, determine how many spins are needed to take off all the grit and dirt, give us a choice to soak and rinse clothes, allow us to delay the wash cycle. You can also allow the machine to determine all these options, if you are too lazy, too busy or too tired; just set it to a pre-set wash mode. And now, you even have washing machines with twin tubs to perform two different wash cycles, simultaneously!
Our televisions still show videos, movies, news, songs, etc. But besides the fact that we have an unlimited number of channels to choose from; you can also decide whether you want to watch it in 3D mode, with surround sound for a movie experience, record your favourite television series or movie for future viewing, turn on and off your television with your smartphone, get your television started with your favourite channel tuned in even before you step through your door, have your television screen as a wall decor. You name it; television is no longer the ‘idiot box’ it used to be. It is smart, intelligent and super cool!
Our mixers and blenders still continue to grind and blend, but they don’t stop with that! It resets or stops to indicate overload or voltage fluctuation and even does its job with minimal noise pollution! It has graduated into a mini-maid or kitchen assistant and has stopped being just a “dumb” blender.
